Description
Letter from the Chair
Dear Georgia leaders in cancer research, prevention, and control, it is my privilege to welcome you to this one-day virtual conference: From Equity to Excellence – Charting Our Course to Reduce the Burden of Cancer in Georgia.
Take a seat in the virtual theater to hear from experts in community-engaged cancer research, cancer prevention, and cancer control efforts from around the state. Learn about Georgia’s latest Comprehensive Cancer Plan priorities and how your organization can contribute to reducing cancer disparities in your community. Hear what others are doing to engage communities in innovative research. Visit our Resource Room to gather information on data resources for program planning; proven strategies to strengthen your outreach and education efforts; and programs available to your organization that have been research-tested and proven effective in preventing cancer, finding it early, and providing supportive care to patients and caregivers. Enjoy breakout discussion groups to share information and form new connections and partnerships to advance your mission. Should you be unable to attend, each recorded session will be available for on-demand access until February 21, 2022.
COVID-19 has posed many challenges that have impeded our cancer research and control efforts. However, I am confident that you will leave this virtual Summit inspired and with a renewed commitment to reduce disparities and improve cancer outcomes in Georgia.
Sincerely,
Former Atlanta Mayor Shirley C. Franklin
